ONLINE PETITION SIGNED BY 1000+ WEB USERS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DETROIT, MI – Democrats for Gas Tax Repeal today announced that hundreds of Michigan voters who attended his rally tonight in Detroit have signed a petition urging Senator Barack Obama to support a temporary repeal of the Federal Gas Tax to provide Americans hardest hit by record-high gas prices with some needed relief.

“Hundreds of Democrats who attended the Obama rally tonight agree that the people of Michigan are desperate for relief from excessive gas taxes and are crying out for a leader who understands the needs of ordinary Americans,” says James Allen, founder of Democrats for Gas Tax Repeal. “Senator Clinton understood that ordinary Americans are struggling to make ends meet and we call on Senator Obama to join us in support of repealing the gas tax for the remainder of the summer.”

Hundreds of voters signed the paper petition with name and phone number as they waited in line at the Joe Louis Arena. Another 1004 signed the petition online.

The temporary repeal would save Michigan workers approximately 20 cents per gallon of gas over the summer. The signatures will be submitted Sen. Obama’s campaign and members of the press tomorrow and SCANNED COPIES OF THE PAPER PETITIONS will be posted at http://www.gastaxrepeal.blogspot.com/ immediately at 9pm tonight.

PLEASE CONTACT GASTAXREPEAL@GMAIL.COM TO SCHEDULE A PHONE INTERVIEW WITH OUR SPOKESPERSON, MR. JAMES ALLEN.
